Like those with infectious skin diseases under the old law we still avoid touching the spiritually unclean, but not Jesus. Jesus touched those that were unclean both physically and spiritually. He healed them. If we refuse to also touch and heal, through Jesus, those that are spiritually unclean it could lead to the worst sin of all - self-righteousness. The community doesn’t care what you teach, they care who you are. Jesus Christ is the dividing line; everything depends on having faith in God, faith in Jesus Christ. We express our faith through confession, repentance and baptism. These are not steps, but an outpouring of our faith.

Our inner most being, our soul, is the house of God. How can we think that God will be pleased in is house? Christians should self-evaluate to ensure our primary objective in our spiritual walk is to please God.

Christians have no need to worry. God has provided everything we need including salvation from our sins.

No matter how bad you are or have been there is always a second chance with God. God just wants us to give it another try.

A message on judging ourselves and forgiving others.

A message on judging ourselves and forgiving others.

Jesus knows what the ordinary person worries about. He lived in poverty most of his life and had the same worries and concerns we do today. It is from deep experience he teaches us about worry. The most important message we can receive from Christ is that our worldly worries distract us from the comfort of the Gospel. The whole message of the Bible teaches us to be concerned for one another. Jesus is the cure for worry. Our life as Christians is the cure for worry. If we love Christ and care for one another as Christ cared for people we will not worry about the inconsequential things in life.

Matthew 6, Luke 12, Isaiah 6, Mark 4, Luke 10

God is still in charge and God’s love is still taking care of the universe. Don’t be afraid, Christ gives a peace that only he can give. For those of us who are troubled, God through Christ gives us a peace like no other the world has to offer. This message is for those that are desperate for peace, who are facing trails, and who don’t see any hope in their lives. This is a message for all of us.

It’s hard to be grumpy when you have a thankful attitude. If we focus on how richly we are blessed we think more positively. Focus on your blessings!

Luke 17:10, Psalm 100

God loves people and too often we don’t love people enough. Scripture after scripture tells us to love people and have mercy on them. This is the true measure of a Christian, do we get people right? If we get people right then we will get God right. It doesn’t mater how good or talented you are if you do not have love you are nothing.

Forgiving is one of the hardest things for a human to do but don’t be afraid to forgive. We are afraid to forgive because we look at forgiveness in an irrational ways such as if we forgive we will make the sin not serious, we won’t forgive unless the other person asks, places too much responsibility on us, or it just doesn’t sound fair.

Matthew 18, Romans 3:21, II Timothy 2:1,

Once we decide that we are responsible for our actions we look at life differently. To be responsible we are going to have to stop blaming, understand that we are always choosing, and know that choosing is your greatest power.

Decide now to clothe yourself with kindness by finding a need and filling it and finding a hurt and heal it. We are kind when we are sensitive, encouraging, sympathetic, and spontaneous.

God’s heart and a mother’s heart are real close. A mother wants her children to be close to God which is graphically displayed in the love Mary had for Jesus and the love Jesus showed his mother.

As Humans we tend to use people and value things, resist difficult circumstances, resist change, and tend to be unforgiving. Forgiveness gives us the power to heal but you can’t give away what you haven’t received, if you haven’t forgiven yourself, you can’t forgive others.

Matthew 6:14, Romans 9

It takes courage to be a person of character and if you have character you about have it all. In order to feel good you have to do good. This is the foundation of life Jesus taught when he told the story of the man who built his house upon the rock as opposed to the man who built his house on the sand.

Matthew 7, Genesis 18, Jeremiah 5, Ephesians 4, John 9:44

There’s a land that is fairer than day, and by faith we can see it a-far; for the Father waits over the way, to prepare us a dwelling place there. Because Jesus was crucified for our sins and he was raised from death, Christians know we have the promise of eternal life with Him.

Psalms 89, Psalms 90:10, Ecclesiastes 10:1, Romans 5:12, James 4:14, 1 Peter 1:3-9, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13, Mark 16:1-7, John 11:1-44

We are all sinners and all children of God. Too often people think that they are not good enough for God, that the sins in their life are too bad for God to love them. Others thing they are so good that there is no need for God to love them. We need to reach out to all of God's children. The church is a factory for producing saints; not a warehouse for storing them.
I John 3:18, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:14, I John 3:18 Matthew 25:31-36

In the world being chosen means someone has to lose and losing brings pain and envy. God has chosen us but in a way that there is no elimination, no loser, no envy. Because we are chosen we should look through the eyes of gratitiude and live as one that is chosen. We should be a blessing not a burden. John 3:22-30, Colossians 3:12-17

In today’s instant world we often get what we want in a matter of seconds. This “got to have it now” mentality extends to our relationship with God. One of God’s characteristics, however, is that he works so slowly. Forty years for Him is nothing, but to us it is so significant. When you find yourself in the desert stay with God and don’t give up on Him. When we find we get to place where God is all we’ve got well find God is all we need.

The marketing world keeps telling us through commercials we ought to be discontent and we are only one step away from contentment. Like well used rag dolls we are all ragged and flawed by our environment and choices, but God loves us ragged and flawed. Christ reconstructs us through the cross and we are loved enough to be made like brand new. 1. Love is for that which it loves; 2. Love delights in the one being loved; 3. Love gives to the one that’s loved. Romans 5, Isaiah 64:9, Matthew 22:4, Luke 7:34
